Audrey Daniels
Grandmother Audrey, 53, has been a volunteer for Home-Start Southwark since 2004. She has supported about seven families during this time and is currently a home-visiting volunteer for two families. Audrey recently became a Trustee for Home-Start Southwark.
Audrey says,
“I've come to know a lot more about myself through volunteering for Home-Start. It really fits my personality. The families are so appreciative, I love being with children, and you meet some really nice people. They don't see you as 'officialdom' and that's important. It's about being a friend.”

Lucy, 30, is a lone parent of son Louis aged seven. Lucy originally attended the Home-Start Hillingdon family group at a time when she was struggling herself. She completed her training last year and is now supporting her second family as a volunteer.
Lucy says,
“I really enjoy working with families and I know what it's like for people who don't have any support. I've been in that situation myself. It's nice to give something back ”
Shanita Wallace
Shanita, 20, is a lone parent of a four year old son and has been a volunteer for Home-Start Southwark for six months. She has supported four families during this time.
Shanita says,
“I don't see myself doing this short-term - I'd rather do it long-term because I do get a lot out of it. I only wish that maybe when I was a little bit younger and had a baby that I had someone like a Home-Start volunteer to offer me support.”
